Hey today i want to talk a little bit about Gamescom 2014 and what you should know about it.
Gamescom 2014 is Europe biggest Videogame Convention and takes place in Cologne, Germany from August the 13th to August 17th 2014. The Press Conferences will take place at August the 12th 2014 one day before the Show Floor opens for the Press and 2 days before the Show Floor opens for the Public.
The Press Conferences will be all livestreamed but i will talk on another day about this and what to expect at those conferences plus i will give you information about the livestreams and where to watch them.
Today i want to give you some informations where to stay in cologne if you want to visit Gamescom this year and where to preorder/buy passes for entry Gamescom plus i will give you some nice Points and Signs you should visit in Cologne if you're here.
First of all. If you dont live in Germany this Trip could cost you much money but if you dont shy it and want a One-Time feeling to play Bloodborne for example then here are some tips.
Travel to Cologne:
If you live in Europe/US you can fly via youre favourite Airline to Cologne/Bonn Airport and take the Train (S12 to Düren/ S13 to Düren) which drives you directy to Köln Messe Deutz. At Deutz you have to leave the train and from there you should see the convention center directly.
If you live in Europe you can look if a ICE Train drives near your home to Cologne you can take the ICE and drive directly to Köln Messe Deutz.
Preorder/Buy Tickets for Gamescom:
The best and easiest way is preorder tickets from Gamescom Ticket Shop. If you want to buy Entry Cards at the Convention Center then you can buy the tickets at the Info Stations in the Convention Center. But be aware the Cards are limited so First Come First Serve.
Hotels/Appartments
If you want to stay in Cologne more then one night then you should watch for Hotels on the Internet. Here is a nice Site which let you choose from many Hotels. Hotels in Cologne
For me personally i like to stay in a Appartment if i travel in another country. You will have the feeling to live in Appartment and its more personally then a Hotel. A great Site to look for Appartments is Airbnb. They are very cheap and there are really nice Appartments. I had book one for Amsterdam in March and it was a better Appartment then mine in Cologne.
Places you should visit:
The most important Places to visit in my oppinion are the Cathedral of Cologne, if you want to make Party at night you should visit Nachtflug, Diamonds or Crystal those are the biggest Clubs in Cologne. If you want to eat something you have big Options here because in Cologne City there are much restaurants, Bars or Fast-Food Shops. You can drink some Beer also if you want.
Special Gamescom Event after Gamescom Doors closes:
When the Doors of Gamescom closes at 8pm you will get the Option to do sightseeing, party in Clubs OR visit the Gamescom Event in the central of the City. At this Event there are musicans, you can play older Games outdoor, watch big Skateboarders skate or just have fun with some friends and drink a drink. Its a very big event and there should be alot of people like the years before.
